The York Ice Arena offers a variety of hockey programming for all age groups and skill levels. Our York Devils Youth Hockey travel program is one of the elite hockey organizations in the area. We also offer in-house leagues, adult leagues, camps, and youth development programs that run annually. We also offer drop-in programs several times per week to allow you to come in and hone your skills on your own time.
York Ice Arena's Learn to Play Hockey Program is here to teach the fundamental skill sets to young hockey players. Developing basic skills is pivotal for young hockey players to ensure that once they join a team and begin playing games, they fully enjoy the experience. It's a great way for players to get into the game in a fun and safe setting.
This is a great time to get that much needed one on one instruction or just to have fun! Stick & Puck is different from Open Hockey - The ice can be divided into areas where you can work on individual skills in a one on one or a small group atmosphere or by yourself. A cross ice pick up game may be played as long as the ice is not already being utilized by an instructor or individual.
Freestyle sessions are designed to give figure skaters and skating coaches the freedom to use the ice for distraction-free practice and preparation. Each session is $15. Skaters and coaches are required to adhere to the freestyle rules. We will keep it on file at the front desk. We expect everyone to follow the rules!.

Every time I've called this place to find out when the public skating is open, I've come on the days that they said would be available, only to be told when I get there that public skating is unavailable that day the one time I actually got in when they said it was open it was fine, but only open for two hours.it would be nice if this place could set one regular set time and day where it is just for public use. Or at least not change the availability after confirming that it should be available a specific day

Pretty pathetic to only be open 2 hours a day. We got all ready and came after seeing the website said they were open just to find out they don't let ppl skate till 7. Not sure how any young children are supposed to utilize this time slot and pretty sad to not make it more clear to ppl that THIS IS NOT A PUBLIC ICE RINK

Renovations to the lobby area have improved things. "Pizza Box" restaurant was ill-equipped to service our large group at a USFSA Figure Skating competition. Some of the (Quarter-activated) heaters on rink one were broken and did not accept any quarters and thus, it was FREEZING in there. 2 ice surfaces - rink 1 and rink 2.

I've skated here a few times and always found it to be a nice rink. They have two rinks within the same building, allowing both figure skating (rink one) and ice hockey (rink two) at the same time. They have skating lessons and a hockey team called the York Devils play here. The only complaint is that the rinks are always freezing cold and even spectators have to bundle up.

They did try and clean the place after the construction but it only lasted a few months. Trash and dust along the floor at the walls. They new staff at the Bricker are rude, not going to buy anything else from that place. Tables are dirty with old food that have been there for weeks. What is wrong with this place? Did I mention how some of the ice skating coaches are rude and talk down to kids.

York City Ice Arena is a bit worn so don't go expecting a shiny, bright NHL experience. It could use some new paint in many places. However, the staff is friendly. The ice is clean. Classes available for all ages to learn how to skate. If you get hungry, there's a small snack bar. Chicken fingers and fries will work in a pinch if you don't have time to get dinner before you arrive for pee wee skating practice.

I am sorry to say worst customer service ever (and I'm a Comcast customer). Tried to schedule daughters B-day party last 2 years. Last year lady handling bookings was very rude so we decided to have party elsewhere. This year guy who does bookings now can't return a phone call after 2 weeks I just stopped in, in person and spoke with a manager who had trouble decoding party booking schedule.
So I simply asked if he could have the guy who does the bookings to call me his answer was "I'll see what I can do" answer should have been. sir, I will contact him right away and have him get in touch with you. I don't get what is so hard about doing your job.

Two rinks affords the the York Ice Arena the opportunity to host many public skating sessions and hockey games simultaneously. So, there are often public sessions. Beware: the hours listed when you call or look online are not always accurate, so if it's a holiday weekend or anything that could cause a change, be advised that it might not be open to public skating.
In my opinion, they're usually understaffed (one poor teenager's trying to make coffees and slushies while watching fries, burgers, and preparing ice cream). Buying a skating pass, renting or sharpening skates is hit or miss with how long it can take. Most guards on duty can be oblivious. While young children and the occasional teen skates the opposite direction or plays tag on the ice, the guards' prerogative is scolding tired individuals resting on the team benches.
While one guard was powertripping, at least the other sympathetically shrugged "I know it makes no sense; my manager insists that no one sit on the bench." Great for families and (pre)teens. Overall, not bad.
