Call
Tony has been calling and teaching square dances since 1964. He learned from many of the finest callers of the time, who impressed on him how important it was to keep his dances simple and accessible, and to preserve square dancing as an activity that everyone could learn and enjoy. Over the years, he added New England contra dances and the folk dances of other countries to his repertoire, and has written dance routines of his own - always with the goal of providing the most fun to the greatest number of people.

Square dancing, contra dancing, barn dancing, American folk dancing - call it what you will, it's for everybody. It's a way "just plain folks" have had fun for hundreds of years. Basically, it's a group of people moving together to lively, inspiring music, aided by directions from a caller. It doesn't have to be difficult - the dances that have stood the test of time are simple and satisfying.
This is our most popular program. A caller, accompanied by live or recorded music, will get people together and show them everything they need to know - a little at a time - to enjoy a variety of dances in circles, squares, and lines. We'll share our favorite dances from the past 300 years, from many regions of our country - and a few from other countries too.
The following two videos show how fun a dance can be for a wedding, even if yours isn't in a barn! This video was shot at the Concord (Mass.) Scout House (on a video camera in the 1980s) during a dress-up party for dance enthusiasts that we've been running for more than 35 years. We can create a similar atmosphere (with easier dances) for your group.
