In this business of clowning I have had the great fortune to meet many different families. Very often I will return year after year to entertain 1 child or many children in the family again and again. I love what I do, each day brings new challenges to be creative and new and exciting events. I would not trade any of my experiences for anything.
I thought this letter was especially sweet. You, as an entertainer, do not fully realize how much you do mean to children and their families. I have been so fortunate to be able to clown in this area. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to entertain kids and families and will always strive to do my best at it.
A long time ago I met 9 year old Patrick Matthews. At 12 days old Patrick had been diagnosed with, Complex Cyanotic Congenital Heart Disease. I am not really sure what Pom Pom meant to Patrick in the short time we got to know each other. He was always glad to see me and always asked for and received a balloon sword and hat.
I once lived in the same house for 20 years. But for 18 of those years I had hardly met, much less spoke with any of my neighbors. Freckles the rescue puppy was 10 pounds of all ears and legs when we first got her. I'm a little old for the, "She followed me home can I keep her routine". But at 40 years of age perhaps I felt that maybe I could be responsible enough to care for her.
