I've taken care of the pianos for several thousand piano lovers, for all told, more than four decades. It began when I was a young man playing in famous hotel dining rooms. The pianos were often not tuned well, so I decided to learn tuning from an Old Master, so I could correct a mess without causing a stir with the hotel's management. My purpose is to contribute to the beauty of the music you play, and to the quality and ease of your personal musical expression.

Adjustments aimed at increasing the efficiency of the mechanical part of your piano are called action regulation. Frequently, relatively inexpensive adjustments can make an enormous difference in the sensitivity of touch, allowing you to play much more expressively. These adjustments restore the correct tolerances that were set when your piano was new, but which gradually changed over the years with use.
Tuning in private homes comprises the majority of my work. I usually use the traditional method of tuning by ear from one tuning fork. This is the method preferred by most concert artists, because it gives the most pleasant sound. I also have the latest electronic tuning equipment, and I am happy to use that method if you prefer.
